flexible bags for Bag-in-Box, as well as
filling equipment for liquids. Made from
metallised polyester and EVOH or PE
(depending on the product type and
customer requirements), Rapak bags
are puncture-resistant and leak-proof, and
designed for 99% product evacuation.
All DS Smith bags are EU and FDA
approved for direct food contact, and
are resource-efficient and lightweight
without compromising protect of the
product.
All products involving liquid dispensing
are free from phthalates and Bisphenol
A, and have an extended product shelf
life of between one and 20 weeks,
depending on the product type and
storage conditions. More energy efficient
than other materials – requiring only 0.1
kWh per bag – the products are stackable
and lightweight, leading to supply chain
optimisation and improved transportation
efficiencies.
When the packaging leaves the
company’s manufacturing facilities, it is
flat-packed to use 45% less storage and
transportation space when compared
with empty bottles. After filling, the
boxes are stackable and space-optimised,
which results in less trucks on the road
and lower carbon emissions. Packing
sizes range from 0.75l to 1400l, and are
suited for large output and small-scale
productions, as well as for new product
testing. All products are food compatible
and undergo chemical, mechanical and
migration tests, are airtight and userfriendly.
Liquid dispensing is also an expertise
of DS Smith, with all facets of Bagin
Box packaging taking into account
when designing and manufacturing
taps, fitments and accessories. The
range includes viscosity ranges, oxygen
barriers, air return, flow rate, leakage risk,
tamper resistance, controlled dosing,
