Synlait Pokeno – the company’s
second nutritional powder
manufacturing site – is due to be
commissioned for the 2019/2020
season, and the advanced liquid
dairy packaging facility at Synlait
Dunsandel will be commissioned
early next year. Synlait remains
confident in its relationship with
Tetra Pak and their approach,
which will deliver to Synlait’s high
standards and specifications, the
company says. When finished,
Synlait’s $250 million factory
at Pokeno will produce 45,000
tonnes of infant-grade skim milk,
whole milk and infant formula
base powders, and provide up
to 70 jobs. Ebert was put into
receivership two months ago owing
millions of dollars, largely resulting
from poorly performing projects
in Auckland. Tetra Pak Oceania
managing director Andrew Pooch
says his company will complete
the contract, despite the “difficult
situation” the project finds itself
in. Construction of the factory is
still in the early stages, and the
new Dunsandel advanced liquid
dairy packaging facility is nearly
completed.
