IN-LINE
PHOTOMETRY
Product changeovers are carried
out multiple times every day in
process streams where numerous
products are manufactured.
Automating changeover with real
time, reliable and repeatable in-line
detection can quickly increase
profitability.
This can be achieved by:
• Reducing product losses
• Reducing effluent loading/BOD
• Reducing maintenance costs
• Improving quality assurance
• Improving productivity and
operational safety due to
reduced process disruptions
Optek in-line photometers have
the proven ability to quickly and
reproducibly detect the ideal
switch point within mixed phases.
In-line change-over measurements
using process photometry can
be performed based on colourindependent
absorption (NIR),
colour intensity (VIS), turbidity or a
combination of all three.
In-Line photometry provides
a faster, more precise and
more repeatable detection
of changeover switch points
compared to conventional visual
detection, time-based, volumebased
or conductivity based
changeover process control.
Because in-line photometry
provides faster and more
repeatable interface detection over
all other methods of detection,
the switching time benefit gained
through process photometry
means more product is saved and
effluent loading is reduced. The
cost savings mean that systems
commonly pay for themselves
within a matter of months.
Low maintenance design and
construction means that further
savings can be made through the
reduction in process line disruption
and maintenance costs.
