PIC’S PEANUT BUTTER WORLD –
NELSON’S NEW ‘STAR’ ATTRACTION
The grand ‘star’ doors of Pic’s
Peanut Butter World opened to
peanut butter lovers from near and
far on February 23.
Pic’s Peanut Butter World is a
purpose-built destination for locals
and visitors to Nelson Tasman and
a ‘must do’ place to visit for all
lovers of good food and peanut
butter.
The 3500m² building houses a
generous 500m² foyer featuring
an attention-grabbing spiral
staircase and public café, offices,
and exhibition and tour mezzanine
overlooking the working factory.
Visitors can see Pic’s Peanut
Butter being made from specially
constructed viewing platforms,
meet the people who make their
favourite spread, learn more about
owner Pic Picot’s journey and even
make their own peanut butter.
Peanut Butter World is owner Pic
Picot’s way of thanking the Nelson
Tasman community for the support
it has given him, his product, and
fifty employees during the 11 years
the company has been in business
to date.
“This is place where our consumers
and producers come together,”
says Pic. “By building connections
between us, our customers, and
the jars in their cupboards I feel
we connect with our customers’
friends…and their friends’ friends…
until one day their friends’ friends’
friend will turn up here, feeling
they’ve come home.”
Pic’s Peanut Butter World is a
destination for gift buying and
meeting friends for food and
coffee. The on-site café is run by
Nelson Tasman’s award-winning
coffee company Pomeroy’s, which
has been roasting and brewing in
Nelson since 1989.
“Pomeroy’s Coffee is excited to be
opening PC Eatery in this amazing
building,” says Pomeroy’s owner
Hayden Thompson. “We will be
showcasing produce and products
from the region throughout the
menu. We have also created a
special Pic’s coffee blend that will
be served.”
The Peanut Butter World building
features a unique industrial
ambience. Designed by Simon Hall
of JTB Architects and constructed
by Coman Construction to
celebrate its function as a working
factory, it makes a significant
contribution to the Stoke
landscape.
“Pic has an infectious enthusiasm
for architecture and all things
different and playful,” says Simon
Hall. “Working with Pic to create his
dream factory has been a fantastic
process and it’s an exciting building
for Nelson Tasman. Pic’s Peanut
Butter World is designed to capture
the imagination and celebrate all
things whimsical. It can be likened
to the factory in “Charlie and
the Chocolate Factory”, but with
peanut butter.”

the Indigenous Business Sector

supports Nathan Guy’s Private Members
Bill to increase the penalties for those
who intentionally contaminate food.
Chief executive Katherine Rich says
that over the years, the Food & Grocery
Council has advocated for a full
review of laws and penalties relating
to malicious tampering with consumer
goods, which includes food, beverages,
pharmaceuticals, natural products and
other non-food consumer goods.
