Auckland-based flexible packaging
company TotalPak Ltd has been
supplying packaging films, laminates
and pouches to New Zealand Food
companies since 2014 and has
extended its range to include home
compostable packaging options in
the form of roll stock and pouches as
well as short run digital printed films
and pouches.
Digital printed packaging
TotalPaks’ offer of digital printed
required in quantities as low as 1500
units, means that printed packaging
is no longer just for large volume
orders.
TotalPak’s general manager Daniel
Jenkins says: “Digitally printed
packaging has given our customers
a real competitive advantage with
speed to market through shorter
lead times and greater flexibility on
orders with as many as 20 different
flavours in a single order with no print
plates. What we can produce often
surprises our customers”.
Home compostable packaging
The addition of compostable
packaging to TotalPaks’ already large
range of flexible packaging products
has answered the demand from
retailers and consumers.
While compostable packaging
is not always suitable for food
products it is still part of the journey
to reducing carbon emissions, this
gives consumers a choice; whether
they want to compost packaging
themselves or send it to landfill
where it can still break down but at
varying rates.
TotalPak manufactures compostable
packaging at its Auckland-based
plant. Producing compostable
packaging in New Zealand gives
consumers peace of mind, knowing
SERVICES, PRODUCTS, SOLUTIONS
that the compostable film or pouch
will do what it is supposed to.
Conventional printed and
unprinted flexible packaging
Flexible film packaging continues to
play a vital role in keeping product
fresher for longer. Strong light weight
barrier laminates have been developed
to meet the performance and cost
demands of retailers and consumers.
Mr Jenkins encourages food brands
and packaging buyers to talk to
TotalPak about sustainable options
while using conventional materials.
“In some cases compostable
packaging is not the answer, using
conventional flexible films we can
customise requirements to suit
the product and budget while Still
addressing sustainability."
