IN THE RIGHT PLACE
AT THE RIGHT TIME
You’ve perfected it…that old
pavlova recipe that your grandmother
wrote down in spidery
writing decades ago and that
you only discovered by chance
after her death. You’re sure it’s
going to change the world as
we know it, and you’re ready to
take your discovery to the next
level and start manufacturing…
but how do you go about it?
That’s where Foodtech Packtech, New
Zealand’s only industry trade show for
the food and beverage industries, can
help. There’s something for everyone
at Foodtech Packtech 2018 and it’s
easy to see why the biennial event is
so long-awaited by the food and beverage
industries. Bursting with a variety
of products and services, the event
from September 18 to 20 is free to
attend for all industry professionals…
no matter what the size and scope.
As XPO exhibitions sales & events
36 JUNE 2018
manager Deb Haimes says, “No
matter what stage your business is at,
there is something for all food manufacturers
to gain. For those looking
to grow and expand, FTPT is the best
place to make connections, learn new
techniques and understand the latest
in food manufacturing innovation.”
Adding value to New Zealand’s food
chain, FTPT will fast-track business
growth in a one three-day event, and
offers the chance to source all needs
and equipment under one roof – essentially
a one-stop-shop from pasture
to-plate. For those starting out
with grandma’s recipes, key features
of the show not to be missed are the
seminars that help people grow their
business from table to shelf to global
scale. Hands-on workshops will help
grow skills and understanding. And
opportunities for one-on-one appointments
with key people in the industry
are a must – with exhibitors keen to
assess what you need and when.
As Food Processing Equipment’s Tania
Carey says, “For us the show means
showing new technology and getting
in front of potentially new clients.
Over the years the show has put us
in front of companies we didn’t know
before. Last show we sold a Ruhle
Tumbler from the show to a customer
we did not know before. This is what
you hope for, meeting new customers
and providing a solution to fit a need
they have. This year we are focused
on material/mechanical handling
equipment and hygienic (washing)
equipment. All food producers have a
use for this type of equipment so there
is something for everyone.”
For those already established, advice
is available about going global or moving
into supermarket/restaurant stocking.
The Innovation Quarter will showcase
the latest industry technologies,
such as VR, AR and drones to make
business more efficient. The Education
and Training Hub will take professional
development to the next level, and the
Business Growth Hub will take your
business and ‘bottom-line’ up a notch
with help from industry experts.
As A&D Weighing’s Julian Horsley
says, “Food industry trade events form
a major part of our annual marketing
investment and FTPT 2016 was our
key event for the exciting New Zealand
and South Pacific markets. When it
comes to high payoff activities, there
is none better than demonstrating our
solutions one-on-one at an event like
this and we’ve recouped our investment
in days not months. With more
than 750 visitors to our stand in three
days and 97 qualified leads for measurement
and inspection systems, we
have plenty of opportunities to chase
that will keep us busy until we welcome
the next instalment this year.”
Key exhibitors this
year include: Heat and Control,
Vemag, Multivac, Minipack Quick
Shrink, J L Lennard and Dexion…
and a must-see is the long-term FTPT
supporter and exhibitor Australian
Institute of Packaging’s training course
on September 19. Launching its new
‘Role of Packaging in Minimising Food
Waste’ training course at the event,
AIP will provide participants with an
introduction to the seriousness of food
waste in this country and globally,
and how businesses can all make a
difference as team members of the
product-packaging design process to
this issue. “With hands-on and practical
case studies, participants will learn
how designing packaging to save food
actually saves food,” AIP says.
