INFAT BY ADVANCED LIPIDS
A highly successful value-adding ingredient for
infant formula, INFAT has been named infant
nutrition ingredient of the year at the Nutraingredients
Awards. The high-quality fat product
is manufactured by Advanced Lipids, a joint
venture between AAK and Frutarom, and is a
specially structured vegetable oil with high levels
of SN-2 palmitate which is also known as OPO. It
mimics the structure of human milk fat, provides
important benefits for babies and ensures they
cry less and sleep more. In making their decision,
the panel of eight industry experts noted the
growing body of clinical research demonstrating
its benefits for infant health. New research has
shown that INFAT may have the potential to support
healthy bone growth, better fat and calcium
absorption, better comfort generated by softer
stools, healthy gut bacteria and intestinal health.
“Mother’s milk will always be the gold standard
of infant nutrition, but OPO ingredients like INFAT
help formula manufacturers come as close to
mother’s milk as possible,” chief executive Ronald
van der Knaap says.

A stable blood glucose profile and high fat oxidation are critical factors in sports performance.

Daniel König at the University of Freiburg in Germany has compared the

cycling performance. The study deduced

blood glucose profile and higher
fat oxidation. On average, the
athletes finished the time trial
an entire minute faster with the
drink containing Palatinose.

contained on the surface of the membrane
which allows for more consistent
removal of solids from filterable area,
and allows for longer, more productive
filter cycles. The filter is more productive
than a classical rotary drum
vacuum filter and will not lose quality
or alcohol. Residues, still containing
alcohol, can easily be valorised in a
