DRINKtech NEW ZEALAND
 Misty Cove says wine lovers
need to ditch the snob factor
of a classic bottle or glass, and
 embrace the Kiwi lifestyle with
wine in a can. Founder Andrew
 Bailey admits his company
 likes to push boundaries,
 making wine more accessible,
 challenging conventions and
 producing Misty Music events.
“We see them as a great way
 to create awesome experiences
 for our customers whilst
 showcasing our award-winning
 range of wines, available across
 two garden bar locations for
 the duration of February
 and March (in Auckland and
 Christchurch),” Bailey says.
The company is the first in the
 country to produce on-premise
wine in a can, with its creatively
 characterised cans.

 NEW DRINK
 ON THE BLOCK
Auckland couple Jo and Aaron Taylor woke up one
day five years ago to the realisation that everything
they were doing, they reckoned, was “lopsided.”
They wanted to be on top
 of their game – physically,
 mentally and emotionally
 – and with four active kids,
two big jobs and a large group
 of friends tempting them into
 unhealthy decisions daily, that
was pretty hard to do. Today’s
 fast-paced world, they decided,
made it easy to get stuck in
 that unbalanced rut. “With an
enthusiastic lust for life, it was
 too easy to over-indulge,” the
couple says. “And we all know
 that over-indulgence hinders
 performance, affects mood and
 limits our ability to manage
 stress.” So the Taylors decided
 to change…nothing major or
extreme - just an awareness of
what it takes to be healthy and
 balanced. Exercise became habitual
but so too did good nutrition,
  and the lightbulb moment
was when they felt all wellness
 brands were “boring and didn’t
reflect who we wanted to be.”
So they invented No Ugly, a tonic
that helps to balance the effects
 of casual drinking, stress, exercise
or a lack of sleep…and the
 Taylors say the key ingredient
 is Enzogenzol, an extraction
from Pine Radiata bark that is
 a highly active antioxidant with
 anti-inflammatory compounds.
Available in two flavours – ginger
 and cucumber – the drink
contains 5.5g of sugar per 500ml
 along with vitamins, minerals
 and electrolytes. The Taylors say
 the drink reduces tiredness and
 fatigue; promotes normal energy
 metabolism, energy production
 and energy release from blood;
 normal psychological function,
 neurological function and nervous
 system function; cell protection
 from free radical damage;
 protection of cells from oxidative
 stress; and normal electrolyte
 balance. www.nougly.co.nz
