The Asia Pacific Centre for
Food Integrity (APCFI) is
holding its annual conference
on the 30th and 31st July
in Auckland. Chief executive Dr Geoff
Allen believes the unique format
will provide industry leaders with
the opportunity to talk about what’s
important to them.
“With a large number of speakers
debating the important issues, we
are sure that attendees will be able to
take a lot of information away from the
event, not to mention the wonderful
networking opportunities it will
present,” says Dr Allen.
This year’s keynote speakers include
sociologist Dr Marc Smith, from
NodeXL. Dr Smith specialises in
the social organisation of online
communities and computer mediated
interaction. He is a co-founder of the
Social Media Research Foundation
which is dedicated to open tools,
open data, and open scholarships
related to social media.
The conference will include experts
from all aspects of food production
including exporting, retailing, fraud,
adulteration, social and environmental
sustainability. Following each keynote,
specialist speakers will have the
opportunity to present their side of
the argument in a series of ten minute
talks intended to stimulate, inform
and build bridges. At the end of the
speaker presentations delegates will
be given the opportunity to seek out
the presenters in a round table forum
and will be able to ask questions
and presenters to elaborate their
viewpoints in an open discussion.
“It’s a unique format and we’re looking
forward to the insights and ideas that
it will generate,” says Dr Allen.
Can we effectively
strive for safe and
secure food at the
same time, or is one
more important than
the other? The Food
Integrity Conference
2019 will debate this
issue and provide
experts with the
opportunity to pick
a team.
