MACHINERY INSTALLATION
offer high flexibility such as the
processing of non-ferrous metals.
The TruLaser one cutting-head
strategy and automatic nozzle
changer raise efficiency with
minimised downtime.
“At the time it was the only laser
that had a fully automated lens
system, so we didn’t have to
change the cutting head from
thin to thick material,” says Mr
Jessup, talking of why Metco
chose all Trumpf machinery.
He adds: “The full integration with
TruStore. Their fibre technologies…
second to none.”
Trumpf also held a trump card in
the form of Colin Brown, Aotea’s
sheetmetal and software sales
representative.
“The big thing with Colin is that
he has worked in the industry…
he knows how to integrate
things in the real world,” Mr
Jessup says, explaining that the
knowledge base and support was
invaluable from set up to firing up,
and after.
Day-to-day running of the Trumpf
set up only needs staff on site if
problems arise, achieved through
automatic callout.
It’s a game-changer of a pallet
changer, positioning Metco to
accommodate much higher
demands for large-scale projects
in New Zealand and overseas.
capacity has increased by an-also
staggering 20 times.
“It’s given us that headspace to
be able to take on more work
and get ahead of where we were.
We couldn’t keep up with it as
we were,” says Mr Jessup.
And the set-up, he says, is
perhaps unique, too. “We
travelled all around the world to
see something similar… there’s
lots of set ups of one TruStore
and a laser, but not two.”
Some 100 tons of sheetmetal
can be processed over a
weekend period.
“We can offer bottom line
benefits of faster production,
higher volumes, and reduced
costs to clients,” says Mr
Jessup. “It’s a whole new scale
of production we’ve broken into,
opening up much broader opportunities.”
