EMEX - SHOWTIME
The Innovation Quarter will
give EMEX visitors a chance
to see I4.0 and IIoT in action
Working with
Callaghan
Innovation and
trade show
organisers, this innovative hub will
feature companies utilising Industry
4.0 or offering innovative ways
to increase production and help
businesses forward into the fourth
industrial revolution.
Here companies will have their
products and services on display,
give advice and offer practical
demonstrations.
Among the exhibitors is Aspect PT,
an advanced, live, integrated MES
(manufacturing execution system),
ideally suited to the plastics and
packaging sectors.
Aspect PT business development
manager Shayne Jones says it
can sometimes be hard to get
people excited about software in
a trade show environment. Their
main objective is to make sure their
software is visible to those working in
the discrete manufacturing sector in
New Zealand.
“We want to open a few eyes and
gain some awareness even for
people who are perhaps not looking
at purchasing something today, but
they might be looking at something
later in the year.”
They’ll also be pitching the idea of a
‘digital factory floor’.
“We are just getting on their radar for
future decisions when they go digital
on the floor. Most sites currently run
manual processes which means
whiteboards, paper, and maybe
Excel spreadsheets etc. They are
outdated and not very efficient or
practical, offering little insight into
what's happening on the floor in
real-time, and they don't harness any
benefits from technology.”
Jones says there is much broader
potential for use in other 'discrete'
manufacturing plants.
The AspectPT site will also include a
demonstration of a factory simulated
on a tablet with live software running.
NZ Controls director Nikk King says
their site in the Innovation Quarter
will offer visitors the chance to see
Industry 4.0 in action.
The NZ Controls team will be
demonstrating vibration monitoring
and instrumentation connected to
IIoT with a live dashboard.
“This will be a real-world view of how
to use it,” says King. “It is practical
use of I4.0 technology directly
