SWISSLOG AUTOMATED ORDER
FULFILMENT SYSTEM
Swisslog is introducing to Australasia
its new CarryStar fully automated order
fulfilment system, which combines automatic
guided vehicles (AGVs), KUKA
Star Robots and the latest Swisslog
SynQ software for optimum efficiency,
flexibility, reliability and sustainability.
Swisslog and KUKA’s highly advanced
technologies and automation solutions
are designed to improve efficiency and
return on investment for industries such
as food and beverage. The scalable
and modular CarryStar fully-automated

solution is suitable for small, mid-size
and large layer and stack picking operations.
With minimal fixed infrastructure
required and the ability to grow as a
business expands its operations, CarryStar
is ideally suited to retail, FMCG
and pharmaceutical companies looking
for a hygienic and efficient warehouse
automation solution. “Swisslog’s CarryStar
solution provides an insight into
the factories of the future,” Swisslog
senior consultant Paul Stringleman
says. “It’s an automated pallet-to-pallet
transfer of goods that needs minimal
fixed infrastructure to operate, making
it ideally suited to companies looking
for a hygienic and efficient warehouse
automation solution. The highly customisable

EUROFINS DUPONT POLYMERASE CHAIN
REACTION GENOTYPING ASSAYS
DuPont Nutrition & Health and Eurofins have developed
and validated strain-level identification assays
in probiotic testing, leading the way for industry
wide product integrity and label accuracy. Du-
Pont routinely utilises new technologies to improve
its methods of strain identification, and Eurofins will
employ DuPont’s polymerase-chain-reaction (PCR)
genotyping assays to identify probiotics at the strain
level in both raw materials and finished products.
The need for strain-specific testing is clear: Numerous
studies have found inaccuracies in probiotic
labelling, with issues including incorrect taxonomy,
missing species and unlabelled species, DuPont’s
genomics and microbiome scientist Wesley Morovic
says. “These findings emphasise the necessity of
reliable methods to determine the taxonomy of microbial
populations in probiotic products. However,
because strain identification has not historically
been required, little investment has been made to
support the industry in doing so. DuPont is one of
few manufacturers to share its genetic identification
methods with customers and the public.” By
making its genotyping PCRs available and working
with Eurofins to develop accurate tests, DuPont is
leading the industry toward label traceability.

solution makes it ideally suited to
dynamic businesses, where order
fulfilment needs may be constantly
changing.”

The inventor of the world’s first biodegradable single
use nitrile glove now brings you a new addition to its
biodegradable hand protection range: SHOWA 707HVO
– a chemical resistant glove engineered with SHOWA’s
revolutionary Eco Best Technology (EBT), in high-visibility
orange. SHOWA, which translates to “finding a balance
between different elements” in Japanese, has paved the
way in biodegradable innovation within the PPE glove
market. SHOWA 707HVO blends the best of single use
and chemical resistant technology to deliver optimum
fit, feel and comfort while protecting against chemicals.
The 0.23mm thick unsupported, unlined biodegradable
nitrile complies with EN ISO 374-1 (JKOPT) and 374-5,
and is impermeable to protect against oils, hydrocarbons,
grease, chemicals and abrasions. The 305mm
long glove is chlorinated for easy donning and doffing,
with a rolled cuff to prevent dirt from entering the glove,
which is manufactured using a unique hand former,
allowing for a lightweight protection that fits like a second
skin. Its fluorescent orange colour makes it highly visible
and an excellent choice for food, janitorial or sanitation
environments, or to separate applications on processing
floors. President Richard Heppell says new and existing
customers are looking to replace their current purchases
with more eco-friendly options, especially when it comes
to PPE. www.SHOWAGroup.eu
