CLEAN AIR, HEATING AND VENTILATION
A GEM OF AN
INSTALLATION
WORKING IN CLEAN AIR NO PROBLEM FOR JEWELLER
When successful jewellery
designer Laurie Mayo needed
to move to new premises to
accommodate his unique
workshop where his custom
made jewellery is polished, his
former extraction was not going
to be enough for the extra dust
created.
Contacting NZDuct+Flex, Laurie
was talked through several
options from the comprehensive
range of products NZDuct+Flex
holds as stock in the company’s
Auckland warehouses. The
perfect solution was found, even
though the jeweller’s workshop
is up two flights of stairs in a
modern compact office building
with neighbours concerned with
noise limitations.
NZDF was able to supply two
small compact dust filters, small
enough for the staircase delivery
and then fitted in tandem with
a Danish JKF 11kW material
handling fan placed on the roof
to reduce noise. Working much
better than Lauries’ last extractor,
they are also a lot quieter due to
their modern European design.
The Danish Geovent GFB2 filters
are the complete solution when
it comes to cleaning extracted
air efficiently. The filter removes
as much as up to 99.97% of
hazardous particles from the
extracted air. Used in a wide
range of industrial businesses
they are suitable for filtering air
from welding processes, grinding,
sanding, plasma-/laser cutting
and powder coating – or jewellery
polishing.
The group of these filter products
can handle air flows from
1,500m3 to 7,200 m³/h, and can
be connected in parallel, if extra DUCTING TO THE NEW FILTERS FROM
THE POLISHING MACHINES
LAURIE MAYO WITH 30 YEARS JEWELLERY DESIGN

NEW DUST EXTRACTION IN THE POLISHING ROOM
capacity is required. Delivered
with an inclusive automatic
electronic controlled compressed
air cleaning system, the filters
use shots of compressed air, to
clean the filter cartridges from
excessive dust build up. An easy
to remove then empty collection
bucket makes the whole
operation very simple. Geofilter
GFB2 is made from galvanised
sheet metal, and has easy
service access, with hatched
double doors for cartridge
inspection.
The 3,600m³/h models chosen
for Laurie Mayo weigh only
135kg each, so the NZDuct+Flex
install team were able to
manoeuvre the units up the
stairs and connect to the JKF
fan craned onto the roof space.
There are four Geovent filter
models to choose from in this
series and they are proving
very popular since introduced
by NZDF earlier this year
with technical colleges and
industrial customers already
fitting many of them this year.
Once the installation team
(who are full time employees
of NZDuct+Flex) left, Laurie
Mayo says: “ I am proud of
my very unique ‘state of the
art workshop’, it’s unlike any
other in NZ and this install
has really made a difference
to my staff - they noticed the
improvement in the air quality
immediately. Anton and Nav
were a great team to work
with: very professional and
committed to providing the
best possible air extraction/
filtration at an affordable price.
I can highly recommend NZ
Duct+Flex”.
