Brute range is an, “Important addition to
our extensive offering and will be a key
solution provider for many applications in our
primary industries especially forestry, timber
processing, mining, quarrying and heavy
manufacturing. The simplicity and successful
mounting of the bearing units will appeal
to many of our MRO segment customers
and combined with enhanced reliability will
provide significant reductions in total cost.”
The key advantages are housing strength,
simple mounting procedure and effective
sealing systems. Solid block housed units
are made from 75000PSI tensile cast steel.
Cast iron more commonly used for mounted
bearing units, desirable for low cost, its
relative structural rigidity, strength under
compression and corrosion resistance.
However, in many applications bearing units
are subjected to very high impact loads
and load directions where cast iron does
not provide adequate strength. Cast steel
offers a strong alternative. Solid cast-steel
housing strength values generally exceed
the bearing capacity regardless of load
direction. A rolling element bearing must be
fully and accurately supported throughout its
operating conditions to gain maximum load
capability and longevity.
SIMPLE AND SUCCESSFUL
MOUNTING
The one-piece housings are factory
assembled, pre-greased and sealed, offering
simple installation direct from shelf to shaft.
No risk of wastage or shortened life due to
contamination of an exposed bearing. The
patented V-Lock – double taper mounting
system ensures correct mounting and
cannot be overtightened. Additionally the
unit can be easily converted from a fixed
bearing to a axial floating bearing unit.
EFFECTIVE SEALING SYSTEMS

CASE STUDY:
SIX-FOLD INCREASE IN
BEARING SERVICE LIFE
By using Timken spherical roller bearing
solid-block housed units, the Swedish
company Derome Timber AB increased
cost efficiency and productivity in one of its
sawmills on a long term basis. The Timken
assemblies achieved a service life in this
application that was more than six times
longer than that of a competitor’s product.
The Timken name stands for high quality and outstanding performance.
By leveraging our know-how in bearing technology, manufacturing,
engineering support and distribution, we provide you with smart,
cost-effective friction-management and power transmission solutions
to magnify your performance.
