Design make it very
clear; they ‘don’t
do easy’. They
are dedicated to
solving difficult problems for
their customers and thrive on the
challenges.
How this is achieved depends
on the situation – every job is
different, and each job can require
a unique approach, but appropriate
technology is forefront. Needless
to say, skillsets are wide and varied
in this company that punches well
above its weight.
“We have been very focused on
being a solution provider since our
conception and our customers
appreciate that we collaborate with
them to achieve results. It’s a real
partnership where both partners
are driven forward,” says Tim Brown,
director of business development,
Motion Design.
The company has made it a mantra
to think outside the box. It not only
strives for excellence but, with it,
innovation. Ease of use plays a big
role too, as does efficiency.
You will find one thing very much
in common in all progressive,
innovative companies: there is no
resting on laurels. Motion Design
very much fits into that category.
The company has been building,
designing and controlling machines
since 1996. It has an experienced
team who are able to develop
innovative solutions to customer
challenges.
“It would be fair to say we have kept
a fairly low profile… serving our longterm
customers for decades,” says
Tim. “We’re now ready for a bigger
presence.”
Part of Motion Design’s strategy to
“be seen” is attending EMEX 2020
next year. Tim says that the team has
been to EMEX many times and know
how valuable it can be as a source of
contacts, innovation and, of course,
sales.
“Where else but EMEX for
engineering and manufacturing? The
show is always huge and this year we
plan to play a big role,” explains Tim.
From early days they have been
thinking ‘bigger than New Zealand’.
Australia and Europe have been
their main export markets, with sales
to Asia and USA growing in recent
years. Industries include laboratory
automation, manufacturing, and
metalforming.
“In steel-forming, we have been
developing digital factory systems
for the past decade,” says Tim.
The company has been designing
automation software dedicated to
saving time and money. The same
can be said of its cloud systems,
where projects such as building a 3D
design, pricing and ordering systems
for steel-framed commercial
buildings are second nature.
“We’ve been early adopters of smart
factory thinking now called Industry
4.0, as trying out something new
and different has always been our
strength.” says Tim. Motion Design
prides itself on integrating machines
on the factory floor with business
systems in the office and everything
in between.
