80 YEARS OF BRONZE ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE
There is literally a part produced by Fraser’s in every country on planet earth. Not a bad achievement from an
engineering company operating at the bottom of the pacific. How does it achieve this? In part, because it is one
of New Zealand’s most advanced material recyclers and in part because of its focus on smart engineering.
thinking have been at
the core of the company
right from its founding
in 1939 when it started
sand casting in central
Christchurch. In the 50s
it was the first centrifugal caster
in NZ; in the 60s it was the first
continuous caster in the southern
hemisphere and in the 80s it was at
the forefront of CNC machining.
Since the turn of the century in
2000, it has been at the forefront
of multi-axis machining and now is
driving integration of machine tool
automation, coupled with advanced
manufacturing philosophies
driven by the use of smart data
and information use. With over
200 employees, not only is it New
Zealand’s largest engineered
bronze producer and its only brass
producer, it is also New Zealand’s
largest production lathe company
by number of machines, volume
turned and hours worked.
