In the new year, this is to be
supplemented with a new
1.6 metre vertical machining
centre. All of this work is being
complemented by the upgrade of
the core computing systems to
bring the company to the leading
edge of its data management
and use. The company lives by
data, engineering and science.
This too is being revitalised by the
recent development contracts
being worked through with both
Canterbury University Engineering
School and Callahagn Innovation as
the company drives to advance its
global metallurgical expertise.
This continual development
philosophy flows through its
people. Its latest innovation
has seen the introduction of an
innovative rotating shift pattern that
enables 24 hour, 7 day operation
with a full weeks leave every 4
weeks for those working the shift.
If you like the sound of potentially
working for this company, then
contact AW Fraser as it is always
on the look out for great new
employees.
It is a big year for this New Zealand
owned innovative, world-leading
bronze manufacturer sitting at
the bottom of the pacific, as
it celebrates eight decades of
operation with its continuous drive
to be at the forefront of global
bronze engineering.
It seems striving to be great never
ends for this Christchurch based
innovator.
PEOPLE ARE CORE TO AW FRASER’S SUCCESS
AW Fraser’s has a plethora of
top-end, cutting-edge equipment
to tackle the variety of projects it is
involved with, but it is its exceptional
people that management herald as
a core driver towards its success.
From the company’s very beginning,
when Alfred started up a small
foundry in downtown Christchurch
in 1939, to his sons, Malcom who
scoured the world for casting
ideas and Bruce on a continual
hunt for world-wide market
opportunities, there has been a
strong directive that people create
the opportunities.
People, again, changed Fraser’s
after securing its position as
the preeminent bronze supplier
throughout Asia; Ian and John
took over the reigns and drove the
components evolution.
Today, owners Gordon, Paul and Phil -
who bought the company back from
corporate Australia - are credited
with revitalising the business.
“People have and will continue
to put Fraser’s on the path of
global excellence,” says Gordon
Sutherland. “More than 200 staff
in this organisation exhibit all the
qualities of the aforementioned
managers. They steer the company
every single day. We are very lucky
to be full to the brim with exceptional
and knowledgeable staff, all with the
similar drive that helped build AW
Fraser over eight decades to where
we are today – taking on the world,
down under.”
