technologies,” says Dustin
who has just returned
home from visiting the
EuroBlech trade show in
Germany for the 10th time.
“If you want to know what
is going on in Engineering
around the globe you can’t
miss this one, its by far
the biggest in the world.
“Etech has a wide variety of
customers engaged in many
different industry sectors.
One day we may be involved
in building a precision rocket
launching ramp ,the next
a great piece of street art
for an overseas Embassy.”
Ian Dustin, one of Etech’s
founding directors, has
always been interested
in new technologies.
He did his apprenticeship
training a long time ago
and has fond memories
of his introduction to the
industry. “Some things
are different today but
a sound apprenticeship
still provides an excellent
start to a career in
engineering,” says Dustin.

More than 20 years ago
Etech purchased its
first flat bed laser out of
Germany, only the second
such European machine
in New Zealand at the
time. “Industry insiders
thought we were mad
purchasing something that
expensive,” says Dustin.
Today the company has
three flat bed lasers and
a tube laser machine. In
fact it just purchased the
most powerful fiber laser
in New Zealand, a 10KW
