Capacitance
sensors hit the spot
Capacitive sensors
measure a change
in the electrical
properties within the
sensor’s sensing field.
And are typically used to sense the
target media within a container,
while ignoring the container.
Traditionally, sensitivity adjustment
was done via a potentiometer and
used to enhance or reduce the
active sensing range of the sensor.
Products with a low dielectric
constant such a plastic packaging
or glass bottles, are easily
adjusted out from the detection
range, allowing the sensor to only
acknowledge the product within.
But recently IO-Link technology
has enhanced these sensors, and
Packaging plants use many
sensors, but commonly
capacitance technology is
applied to measure a liquid
media or powder material
within a container.
