Kiwi women in top
roles... good, but...
Leading technology career
platform Honeypot, has released
a study revealing the gender gap
in managerial roles, with women
accounting for less than 50% of
senior positions in every nation.
But of the 41 countries surveyed,
New Zealand ranked fourth best
behind Latvia (44%), with Honeypot
releasing data that indicates 41%
of senior or managerial roles in New
Zealand were held by women.

and stock wellbeing, Moray is
an innovative hand-tool designed for
sheep farmers to assist in the seasonal
process of removing lambs tails, commonly
known as docking.
Using piezoelectric igniting, Moray has
a specialised double-chamber dampening
shaft for reliable weather-proofing
and consistent blade temperatures
for clean cauterisation.
Effective docking significantly reduces
lamb morality and has a positive impact
on the health and productivity of the animals
involved.
Moray founder Nicole Austin says:
“Now that women are becoming more
engaged in industrial design, it’s great
to be able to represent the field in that
way. I refined an outdated, traditional
tool to be 35% lighter and to use 60%
less hand span than the docking iron
currently used by New Zealand farmers.”
Sweden gets on
track
It's somewhat of a blast from
the past. The Swedish Transport
Administration has opened a 2km
stretch of electrified road that
works the same way as kids’ toy
racecars and tracks of the 80s.
The project, dubbed eRoadArlanda,
involves embedding electric
rails into the road surface to power
electric vehicles through a contact
arm hanging down from under the
car.
