EVERY HOG HAS ITS DAY:
NEW FLANGE HOG 110 TOOL
New to the Kiwi market from Esco Tool comes its
Flange Hog 110 hand-operated flange facing tool,
distributed here by Elliot Scott.
Esco Tool, supplier of precision pipe and tube
bevelling, cutting, and fabricating tools, says its
latest offering means users can recondition RF
and FF flange gasket seat surfaces with precise
phonograph finishes – in minutes.
The Flange Hog 110 has a clamping range of 22 –
260mm and can face a stock or smooth finish up
to 355mm.
By using a system of gears and drive shaft, this tool
provides a consistent spiral finish that leaves the
face of a flange looking like it was faced on a lathe.
Cutting bits are double sided, long-lasting and
specially formed to cut through a wide variety of
material including carbon steel, stainless steel,
alloyed steel, aluminium and cast iron.
One of the biggest benefits of this tool is that you
do not need air lines nor power cords in order to
operate. Everything comes conveniently organised
in a rugged carrying case and can be
taken to the work, wherever it may
be.

FORKLIFT TRAINING
SUPPORTS LITERACY EFFORTS
Language and literacy barriers are a serious
issue when providing training to employees
that operate dangerous machinery. Tasman
Training’s online forklift course, available
via DT Driver Training’s driver education
website, offers a number of innovative
ways of ensuring that forklift operators
have understood the learning materials,
regardless of their level of English reading or
comprehension.
Director, Darren Cottingham says, “Not
everyone is good at reading and many
people have English as a second language.
The course contains clear video and

animation to demonstrate the concepts,
accompanied by voiceover in English. The
videos can be slowed down, if required.
Every question in the assessments has
an English audio recording and can be
translated on-screen from English into 103
languages including the most commonly
spoken languages in New Zealand – Te Reo
Maori, Samoan, Chinese and Hindi.”
Companies have a responsibility to ensure
their workers are competent and understand
the hazards when operating machinery.
Multilingual training is inclusive and provides
a better outcome in workplace training.
