WHO’S WHO ROB AGNEW (Plant & Food Research) Rob Agnew is a liaison scientist in Marlborough, with expertise in the use of mulch in vineyards, disease monitoring and management, and the use of weather data and disease development models. Agnew is in charge of more than ten vineyard weather stations in the region. www.foodtechnology.co.nz 49 PROFESSOR CHARLES BRENNAN (Lincoln University) Brennan is the inaugural Professor of Food Science at Lincoln, within its Department of Wine, Food and Molecular Biosciences. Internationally renowned for his research into the interface between food science and human nutrition, Brennan is an editorial board member of five international journals. SIR GEORGE FISTONICH (Villa Maria Estate) Sir George Fistonich founded his Auckland company in 1961. Since then, it has become New Zealand’s leading winner of award wines, both locally and overseas. Fistonich was shortlisted as one of the 50 most prominent figures in the wine industry by UK Wine International magazine in 2001, and named NZ’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005. His knighthood for services to the New Zealand wine industry was awarded in 2009. DR BRENT CLOTHIER (Plant & Food Research) Brent Clothier is science group leader production footprints and biometrics group, and has a PhD from Massey University. He is an Adjunct Professor in the New Zealand Life Cycle Management Centre at Massey, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand and three foreign science academies. THEO SPIERINGS (Fonterra) Spierings has headed Fonterra as chief executive since 2011, after leading the Dutch dairy co-operative Royal Friesland Foods. Spierings has a 25-year history in the global dairy industry, with vast experience in managing dairy businesses across Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He holds a BA in Food Technology/Biotechnology and a Masters in Business Administration from Glasgow University.
