WHO’S WHO 48 ANNUAL DIRECTORY 2017 GARY HOOPER (Aquaculture NZ) Hooper is chief executive and has worked in a number of key executive commercial and marketing roles with some of New Zealand’s leading brands. Aquaculture NZ – best known for producing iconic Greenshell Mussels, King Salmon and Pacific Oysters – employs more than 3000 New Zealanders, generates more than $400 million of revenue and has become a significant and sustainable primary industry. GRAEME HARRISON (ANZCO Foods) Awarded a Knighthood for his services to, and achievements within, the agribusiness sector in 2011, Harrison has worked in various roles associated with the New Zealand meat industry since 1973. Former deputy chief executive of the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, he founded what is now ANZCO Foods in 2014 and is the current chairman. JO GOODHEW (Minister for Food Safety, Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector, Associate Minister for Primary Industries) Goodhew was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Rangitata in 2008, having first been elected as the MP for Aoraki in 2006. She has previously served as Minister of Women’s Affairs and Junior Government Whip. DR JOCELYN EASON (Plant & Food Research) Eason is general manager for food innovation, manages the scientific direction of more than 100 scientists and oversees the delivery and commercialisation of products for the food and beverage industries. She leads the Vital Vegetables programme, and also manages the Food Innovation Portfolio, which includes teams that investigate human responses to food, amongst other subjects. MICHAEL SPAANS (DairyNZ chairman) Spaans is a dairy farmer from Te Aroha in the Waikato, and has farming interests in Canterbury, Chile and the United States. He is a former chairman of Waikato Innovation Park and Animal Breeding Services, and former director of OSPRI and NZAEL. Spaans is currently chair of DairyNZ and a director of Fonterra Co-operative Group, ASB Bank and Shoof International. He has a Graduate Diploma in Finance and is a chartered member of the Institute of Directors.
