One of its new equipment installations was a Retort pressure cooker, which required a new water supply connection. This was taken from an existing galvanised steel line in the roof cavity above the factory. Using a piping system that could be installed without welding and the need for hot work permits was important for Leader, as the walls and roof are made of flammable polystyrene sandwich panels. Access was also very confined in places, adding to the challenges. Leader Products selected Kembla’s KemPress stainless steel piping system for the extension. Being made of 316L stainless steel, it met the food safety requirements. The weld-free press fit jointing system eliminated both the fire risk and the need for hot work permits. Leader’s engineering team installed the KemPress piping system, which was “quick to install and it was completed with no leaks”. Kembla’s KemPress stainless steel piping system has proved itself numerous times to be just that, yet still an extremely robust and reliable system. Contact Kembla: 09 274 0111, sales@kembla.co.nz Key factors behind the decision of Rust-Oleum (a first-time user of Sacmi) include what the company describes as the excellence of the vision and quality control systems, which ranges from container positioning (patented Sacmi system) to application and checking of the label. This American company has been provided with a new Opera 400 26T, a modular labeller with two modules, one for the application of labels using roll-fed technology, the other for the application of self-adhesive labels. A highly efficient vision and quality control system – personalised to suit the customer’s specific needs – completes the order. The two labelling stations ensure up to 21,000 applications an hour, while the entire quality control phase is handled by LVS (labelling vision system) units that position the container (using six video cameras) and inspect both label and nozzle (four image acquisition devices). Modular configuration of the labeller - ideal for the food and drink industries - allows, via a single passage through the machine, application of the main label on the can (roll-fed module) and the bar code (self-adhesive technology). The outcome is an efficient production process that fully guarantees output quality thanks to integration with label control and container orientation. The Sacmi Group is showcasing its key technologies at the upcoming China Brew & Beverage at the Shanghai International Expo Centre, October 11-14. The huge biannual fair dedicated to beverage processing and associated technology, is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors from all over the globe. On display at the booth will be the Arena range of roll fed labellers produced locally by SACMI Nanhai, that are both high-performance yet simple and are characterised by outstanding flexibility, high productivity and minimum changeover times. Also on show will be the plastic closure CCM machine producing 2000 caps/minute together with the integrated Inspection and quality control systems for every stage of the beverage production cycle. These include systems that execute high speed cap inspection directly in line on the CCM machine. SACMI LABELLING Rust-Oleum, a leading producer of professional anti-rust and decorative spray devices in United States and Canadian markets, has chosen Sacmi labelling technology in the renewal of its production lines.
