L O G I S T I C S TEMPERATURE DATALOGGING FOR STERILISATION AND PASTEURISATION Datalogging for Sterilisation and Pasteurisation www.foodtechnology.co.nz 35 We have a complete range of datalogging solutions for monitoring your sterilisation and pasteurisation equipment. • Portable high temperature loggers • Real Time and RF logging • Fo calculation • Custom designed probes • Validation +64 9 525 1875 | info@belltechnology.co.nz | belltechnology.co.nz FT346 Bell Technology supplies a wide range of temperature datalogging solutions for autoclaves, sterilisers and retorts. The Tempulog Sterilisation and Pasteurisation Monitoring System (TSPS) from 3D offers accurate real time calculation of the F0 for sterilisers and pasteurisers. Data is recorded at a user-programmable rate from 1 to 60 seconds, data recording is synchronised with start cycle of the sterilisation process, and is terminated when the cycle is stopped. As soon as the autoclave door is closed, data is logged the instant the sterilisation cycle is started. In addition, the temperature is displayed on the host Server/Client screen in real time. The TSPS is an in-process system, rather than a post-process system as is the case with portable data loggers. The temperature measuring sensor is ‘PT100 Class A’, ensuring the highest accuracy and linearity. The data is logged as long as the process is in-progress, and saved in a secure SQL database. The data backup is also provided by the non-volatile on board the electronic data logger, and data is saved in CSV file, allowing the user to execute further data analysis and presentation. The system supports up to 16 sterilisers running at the same time or at different times and different sites. Escort Dataloggers, now called Cryopak Verification Technologies, manufactures a number of portable dataloggers that can be placed directly inside an autoclave/steriliser. The instruments are rated to 125C and are IP68. With a minimum probe length of 50mm, they can be made up to 200mm and to any shape. Alternatively, the Escort logger can be installed outside of the equipment or plant, and the remote temperature probe installed inside. Probes can be custom-made for any fitting. Loggers are configured and downloaded using the Escort USB cradle and free software. Escort Console software enables process hygiene parameters such as F0 and PU to be calculated directly from the temperature history. Mesalabs manufactures probably the smallest high-temperature datalogger on the market today. Rated to 150C (without thermal protection), the small MPIII logger stands only 25mm high and is used mainly by leading global food and medical companies. The DataTrace logger also comes in a model that offer real time data visualisation via radio frequency transmission. This can be very useful for diagnosing temperature profiles in realtime before the door is opened to retrieve the load. Both models offer significant advantages over traditional thermocouple wire systems, for both precision and ease of setup. Loggers can be placed exactly within the load without fear of dislodgement. DT Pro software can calculate Fo and PU values both in realtime and historically after the data had been downloaded and analysed.
