Chief executive Toni Brendish says current pay-out predictions, while higher than for the past two seasons, will not satisfy shareholders and may not be sustainable, meaning there is likely to be staff redundancies. She didn’t speculate on how many or what positions will be affected, but says the review of Westland Milk Products, Westland Shanghai and EasiYo is scheduled for completion by the end of this month. “Westland Group has the capital investment, technical expertise, quality products and resources to recover from last year’s loss and get back to paying shareholders a competitive payout,” Brendish says. “But our current structure, including staff roles, is not set up in the best way to deliver the results we want to achieve.” Dairy Special
