Headquartered in Auckland, its team of specialist engineers provides energy management services to clients throughout New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. Key to business success has been the company’s commitment to innovation. This comes in the form of Energy NZ-developed web-based solutions for many of its services, bringing to market new energy management products as well as providing ‘outside the square’ turnkey energy management solutions. An example of the company's innovation has been the development of its cloud-based energy management platform with local partner Outpost Central - an award winning innovator. Another example is its low cost power factor correction. This was initiated in 2014 when electricity network providers introduced large penalty charges to businesses with power quality issues. Energy NZ developed its correction solution that eliminated these charges and provided a 12-month payback period on investment. However, like most successful businesses, Energy NZ’s major strength lies in its highly skilled and diverse team, known within the company as ‘Team Energy’. All team members believe in the company’s mission statement to enhance client profitability and brand value through a diverse range of bestin field energy management services. Energy NZ continues to provide unique engineering solutions for a wide variety of clients and industries. ENERGY SOLUTION PROVIDERS Since 2001 Energy Solution Providers’ (ESP) energy management programme has saved New Zealand businesses over $20 million by collecting, analysing and presenting data from more than 200 million data points. This is equivalent to the permanent removal of 115.3m kWh or 14,800 houses off the grid. The company’s emphasis on relevant data was recently validated when it won the 2016 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority’s (EECA) Business Service Excellence Award. ESP uses the data to expose waste where previously it was hidden, and quantifies the energy cost reduction. Pragmatic solutions do not decrease the operations’ output quantity or quality, says ESP, and therefore the cost reduction is a direct profit addition. This motivates senior management and installs a commitment to realising these savings. The company uses online analytical tools to present an important competency - the illustration of data. Firstly the audience and purpose is agreed and then succinct, relevant data is presented with relativity as data alone is irrelevant. This constitutes a 15-minute live data from full power quality meters that deliver kW, kVA, PF, amps and harmonics. EPL The EPL Group is a designer, developer and manufacturer of extruded and injection moulded polymer solutions. The company has manufacturing sites in New Zealand and Thailand which offer extensive experience and industry leading technologies. The technical market team - with over four decades of specialist experience and knowledge - is available either as a standalone resource or as an extension of the customers’ research and development team. Specialist solutions include the processing of unique polymer materials, leading edge engineering and manufacturing techniques, advanced tool and product designs and product functionality.  Its components are geared to enhance the designs of business-to-business customers worldwide. Personnel resources include highly educated and qualified tool design, fabrication and polymer experts.  The company’s unique product development unit is completely dedicated to developing effective solutions and includes engineers, chemists, project managers, designers and toolmakers whose sole task it is to find answers to new problems. From concept to design, prototyping and testing, everything is done in the product development centre with CAD design, tooling development and trialling facilities. Designs span first principles to promoting the use of polymer solutions where benefits may not be immediately obvious. EPL’s tool making facility includes CAD design, polymer flow modelling software, wire cut, CNCs, turret mills, surface grinders, lathes and other engineering equipment for surface finishing of extrusion tooling and calibration.
