www.engineeringnews.co.nz 25 EN074 SUPPLY SERVICES, BADEN PRENTICE For the sales staff at Supply Services Ltd, EMEX 2016 was a busy trade show.  All three days were well patronised with a constant stream of both existing customers and new faces.  “Surely this must be a positive indicator for the New Zealand engineering industry in general,” says Baden Prentice of Supply Services. “Trade shows are always great events for our sales staff as they get to interact with customers in a neutral environment away from the hustle and bustle of the office or work shop, and we have all the products on hand for show and tell.  Perfect” Of great interest to passers-by this year was the very large engineering plastic stock shapes the company had on display.  Some found it hard to believe that engineering will consume Acetal POM-C rods from 3mm right up to 600mm in diameter or sheets up to 250mm thick.  “Engineering plastic materials certainly have carved out an important place in modern engineering.  Our new range of high quality German FIL-A-GEHR 3D printing filaments in ABS and PLA also drew a lot of attention,” says Mr Prentice. This dynamic and rapidly expanding new sector would seem to be yet another exciting opportunity for engineering plastics. MODERN TOOLS, BERNARD PHILLIPS The trip across the ditch by Modern tools was well worth while, and they will be back, explaining that they exhibited at the show to expand their reach and their market. “It was a great show with plenty of positives to talk about for us. It allowed for us to show our wares to new customers and the response we had from the New Zealand market was excellent,” says Bernard. He adds that the show produced a very high through traffic of visitors which kept the team busy but it was the quality of people through that impressed the most. “Decision makers and industry heads. It felt as though we were continually talking to the right people and to get that in one place and within three days is great. We are following up on plenty of leads.
