METAL SPRAY IS THE SURFACE SOLUTION
Two separator vessels in Kawerau
were suffering from internal erosion
from high velocity steam containing
hydrogen sulphide and various particulates
from underground.
Provided with these conditions,
Metal Spray Suppliers NZ Ltd
selected a unique arc sprayed nickel
alloy combined with a solvent free
metal spray sealer as the coating
and with a detailed specification
covering preparation and application
the work was accepted by the client.
MaxiCoat
®
Epoxy floor & wall coating system
MaxiCoat is ideal for heavy duty traffic areas; has a very high chemical resistance,
is NZFSA approved and has the strength of conventional oil-based coatings, but
with the safety and convenience of water as a solvent. Only two coats are required
to give a durable long lasting finish, reducing cost and application time.
MetalFix can be used as a primer in heavy rust situations.
Water based & durable for a long lasting finish
Key applications: * Forecourt & showroom floors or walls
* Car garages & workshops
* Aircraft hangar floors
* Cold storage rooms
38 June 2018
The job was carried out over one
week involving two metallisation arc
spray systems to apply the required
500 micron of the nickel alloy.
Both separators were then put back
into service and in 2018 the coating
was inspected to find no measurable
coating loss – some seven years
later.
Thermal spray, also commonly
known as metal spraying or
metallising is a surface engineering
coating process where a wide
REN136
range of metals and ceramics can
be sprayed onto the surface of
another material. The technology
repairs, protects or extends the life
of a wide variety of products in the
most hostile environments and in
situations where coatings are vital
for safety and performance. Thermal
spraying is widely used to provide
corrosion protection to ferrous
metals or in engineering to change
the surface properties of the sprayed
items, such as improve the wear
resistance or thermal conductivity.
* Light & heavy industrial factories
* Food processing plants & freezing works
* Fishing vessels, ships & offshore installations
