ADVERTORIAL SELF-CLEANING TANK WASHING NOZZLES USE LESS WATER www.foodtechnology.co.nz 47 joyed modern tea mixology, with a ‘Garden of Eden’ cocktail and mocktail sharing the same ingredients - Dilmah Ceylon green tea with Moroccan mint, honey, mint leaves and lemonade – with a good dash of gin in the cocktail. For the first time in 10 years, Epic has received the trophy for People’s Choice amongst a line-up of 26 other brand-new IPAs, and owner Luke Nicholas says it’s an honour to have the public vote his beer the best. “When you are releasing a beer for the first time, along with other brand new IPAs, you never know what surprises will be on tap,” he says. “The Annual West Coast IPA Challenge has become the breeding ground for some of the best IPAs created and released in New Zealand. Many of these beers have gone on to be mainstays in the portfolios of the brewers that have won in past years.” Epic Hysteria IPA is part of a new series of beers based on the recipe of the highly successful Armageddon IPA. Each batch release has had the recipe changed slightly to focus on a different combination of hops, in an effort to see if it’s possible to brew an even better beer. This latest trophy comes hot on the heels of winning Best NZIPA with Epic Hop Harvester in Queenstown, and Best IPA with Armageddon IPA at the New World Beer & Cider Awards earlier in the year. HYSTERIA AT ITS BEST Another trophy has been picked up by Epic Brewing Company for its latest highly hopped India Pale Ale. This time, consumers have judged Epic Hysteria IPA tops at the 10th Annual West Coast IPA Challenge held in Wellington. The typical spray balls found in storage tanks are inefficient and costly to operate, as they need large volumes of water and chemical just to reach, wet and cover the tank interior. With inefficient reach, the wetting, washing and rinsing performance is severely compromised, resulting in excessively long wash times. M-Series CIP tank washing nozzles by Spray Nozzle Engineering are becoming the preferred choice for beverage, wine and brewery manufacturers. Unique patented self-cleaning features increase the cleaning efficiency, leading to shorter cleaning cycles and thus reducing operational costs. What sets them apart is the benefit of trouble-free operation – the clogging and loss of impact at high pressures associated with other tank washers are minimised. As a direct replacement for spray balls in standard pressure applications, the M-Series rotating action utilises Flow-Step technology…concentrated streams of higher impact liquid delivering more efficient distribution, greater impact and faster CIP cycles.
