AUSPACK Sydney, ‚ – „… March Stand ˆˆ… Peter Springford, an independent director, has been appointed to the Zespri Board, replacing long-serving director David Pilkington. Zespri chairman Peter McBride says the Board sought a candidate with a strong mix of business leadership and corporate governance experience, as well as exposure to the Asian business environment. Springford’s extensive business track record includes involvement with International Paper (Asia), Carter Holt Harvey, New Zealand Refining Company, Nuplex Industries and Infratil. Dr James Hutchinson has taken over the helm of the Kiwi Innovation Network (KiwiNet)…New Zealand’s national network of universities and Crown Research Institutes working together to take science discoveries to market. Hutchinson, previously a commercialisation manager at KiwiNet, replaces general manager Dr Bram Smith, who is moving to a private sector role. Hutchinson is passionate about the important role that science and the scientific community have to play in growing our economy into new high-tech and knowledge-based sectors. Yealands Wine Group has appointed Adrian Garforth MW to the position of chief executive. Garforth has previously worked with Yealands in Europe on a consultancy basis, in addition to working in global wine importation and distribution, consulting to UK restaurants and developing wine education programmes. In 1993 Garforth was admitted to the Master of Wine Institute, an accolade held by 354 people globally today. He is currently vice chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine, and will become chairman in 2018. Minister for Food Safety Jo Goodhew will not seek re-election in this year’s government elections. The Rangitata MP says she has taken the opportunity over the summer break to think about her future. Goodhew was elected to Parliament in 2005, and after two-and-a-half years as Junior Whip, served as a Minister for five years, with responsibility for a number of portfolios including the Community and Voluntary Sector, Food Safety, Senior Citizens and Women.
