S T O C K TA K E AC AND DC FANS ARE THE HEART OF YOUR SYSTEM CALLAGHAN PROVIDES STAFF WITH EARTHQUAKE EARLY WARNING SYSTEM Due to the recent Kaikoura, Wellington and Christchurch earthquakes, Callaghan Innovation has purchased the cost effective Palert system to improve staff health and safety. Installed by Jenlogix partner, Red Wolf Security, the system is in use in the Wellington and Christchurch offices of Callaghan. The system provides audible and visible warning of earthquake shock waves before they arrive based on the P-wave, also enabling the switching off/on of emergency systems. This enables staff to potentially exit the building before the destructive S-wave arrives. Costing from $2,850 each device, the system did not break the bank, while providing help to potentially save lives and infrastructure An engineering firm uses the data for rapid determination of the health of the buildings after a severe shake. SMS messages can be sent to groups, plus, by combining with data from additional units in New Zealand, a shake map is produced within seconds of a quake.
