Nicky Blackmore, general manager and director, explains, “We deliver customised and innovative technology solutions to address unique business needs and offer a solutions-oriented approach with a clear return on investment for all our customers. “Eaton designs and manufactures a wide range of UPS and DC solutions with in-built technical excellence. We take their product and add further value by offering customers advantages in terms of on the ground, agile nationwide engineering services and support. This is fairly unique in the industry and we are proud of this offering.” John Atherton, general manager power quality, Eaton ANZ, says the ongoing partnership with UPS Power Solutions means that New Zealanders have access to a higher standard of power when it’s most required. UPS Power Solutions has offices in both Auckland and Wellington, with accompanying warehouse facilities and maintains a network of highly skilled sub-contractors to provide nationwide support. By holding high levels of Eaton stock and spare parts within its facilities, UPS Power Solutions can service Eaton’s customers throughout the lifecycle of their products and prepare organisations for next-generation upgrades. N E W S Bad press for engineering Gender proportion has again hit media, leaving the engineering industry red-faced and short of women applying for jobs within the industry. According to The New Zealand Herald, information from Trade Me shows that 80% of people applying for jobs in the engineering industry were male. “We looked at all the applications over the last three months and men again dominated engineering, IT, construction and roading,” head of Trade Me jobs Jeremy Wade was reported as saying. “We’re not here to blame any particular industry, but we want to keep shining a light on these stereotypes and hopefully play a small part in changing some thinking. He says in the 18-25-year-old women category, female applicants comprised just 11%, well down on the overall proportion of 16%.
