www.engineeringnews.co.nz 15 EN207 Fieldays produces record crowds ELECTRICAL SHOW A STALWART OF AN INDUSTRY For the past 33 years the annual Electrical Tradeshow has been an integral part of the industry programme through a trade fair held in Christchurch. Each year approximately 80 exhibitors related to the electrical trade (suppliers, manufacturers etc) have displayed what’s new in the industry to a high traffic attendance. “We have been full to capacity at the original venue and this is the second year we have moved to the much larger Horncastle Arena. This venue is home to many prestigious events such as the SouthMach engineering show andf Christchurch Home Shows, and now will be home to our annual tradeshow,” says show organisers. The floor area boasts over 4000 square metres and currently some 80 exhibitors have confirmed participation, which includes a few new exhibitors from categories such as vehicle manufactures, power tools, working at heights safety equipment and more. “Last year we had approximately 1700 industry related visitors pass through the door on the day and are expecting 2000 this year.” This year’s event is being held Tuesday, July 25. In a country that has its economy at the heart of the rural sector, the positive turnout and record numbers at the 49th New Zealand Agricultural Fieldays reflects a buoyant economy. New Zealand National Fieldays Society ceo Peter Nation says, “I was delighted with the overall show. The level of investment and professionalism by exhibitors, combined with reasonably good weather has resulted in record crowds. We’ve had early reports from exhibitors stating that sales were strong, in some cases exceeding show targets in their first day of trading.” Some 133, 588 visitors went through the gates throughout the three-day event.
