GEARED UP FOR KIWI MOTOVARIO ASSEMBLY 66 May 2017 P O W E R S Y S T E M S Hamilton-based Transmission House Limited (THL) is now a fully authorised Motovario Assembly Centre (MAC) As businesses throughout the world focus on doing things right and putting more emphasis into collaborative endeavours that produce win: wins throughout the supply chain, one Kiwi-based Importer, Transmission House, has been given a big shot in the arm. The New Zealand-owned and operated company has serviced the industrial and agricultural sectors of business since 1986, and it has just announced it has strengthened its relationship with Motovario of Italy. The Italian manufacturer specialises in the production of mechanical speed variators, helical and helical bevel gear reducers, shaft mounted, worm gear reducers, electric motors and motoinverters. “We have been the Motovario distributor in New Zealand for 28 years, purchasing the gearboxes built and then supplying them to the market, but we saw the opportunity to provide a larger range and in turn more effectively supply our customers,” says Todd Robbins of Transmission House. There are great benefits of becoming a fully authorised Motovario Assembly Centre, which effectively means that the Hamilton operation becomes an extension of the Motovario factories and needs to meet strict assembly procedure’s and conditions. Mr Robbins says that Transmission House is now authorised to assemble helical bevel, helical inline and parallel shaft mounted units in New Zealand to those precise factory standards. “Our customers will benefit greatly from the new Assembly Centre… it is all registered straight back to Motovario so anything that is built out of here has a worldwide factory warranty so, for equipment manufacturers this allows them to supply anywhere in the world with the peace- of-mind that they have the full support of the Motovario warranty.” New precision presses, pressure test equipment and tooling have been installed, providing the tools needed to assemble and test to exacting standards. TRANSMISSION HOUSE IS NOW AUTHORISED TO ASSEMBLE HELICAL BEVEL, HELICAL INLINE AND PARALLEL SHAFT MOUNTED UNITS IN NEW ZEALAND TO THOSE PRECISE FACTORY STANDARDS “Basically, when we are pressing our pinion gears into the gear unit it is measuring the distance that it presses each pinion and also the force that is used to press the pinion in. From that the press will tell us if it has failed or passed, as it needs to be within a specific range,” says Mr Robbins. The New Zealand operation has dedicated technicians on assembly and staff have been sent to Italy to train under the expert eyes of Motovario technicians at the main factory. Conversely, Italian inspectors ensure quality controls are met by a regular, yearly site and Assembly process inspection in New Zealand to make sure everything certifies and is built as per Motovario standards and regulations”. Mr Robbins says that the extended relationship between the two companies will allow THL to build larger units locally, but more importantly “it also gives us the opportunity to supply our customers with a real-time service for breakdown situations. We can build and supply same day to keep our customers running”. THL NOW
