The 3XD, for a machine with 760mm (X) x 510mm (Y) and 510mm (Z) is extremely compact and designed with the reduction of costly floor space in mind. A 12,000rpm spindle is standard and with a massive 26kW spindle motor is capable of both heavy cutting and high speed machining. Total CNC Products Ltd and managing director Rodney Oxford have represented Kitamura Machinery in New Zealand since 1995 and in this time have installed Kitamura machines into many differing machining situations. “They are our premium brand,” says Mr Oxford, “and our clients that use them enjoy the accuracy, reliability and performance Kitamura are known for. They are still a family owned and operated Japanese company and the people we deal with today are the same as when we began in 1995.” The 3XD is part of the new D series from Kitamura, the smallest being the 2XD/Sparkchanger and larger being the 4XiD and soon to be released 5XD machines. All these models incorporate the new Kitamura-Arumatik controller with features such as 675 block look ahead and high speed contouring and accuracy control. “One of our clients has a 4XiD and 3XD side by side and machines nothing but stainless steel and titanium all day every day Oxford describes. These two machines have not missed a beat since installation and simply eat these difficult to machine materials in true Kitamura fashion!” Programmed with GibbsCAM, also represented in NZ by Total CNC, the Kitamura 3XD can be seen cutting at SouthMach on stand 88. COMPACT IN SIZE, GIANT IN PERFORMANCE The new Kitamura 3XD vertical machining centre will take centre stage at SouthMach 2017 by Total CNC Products Limited.
