F O O D T E C H PA C K T E C H EUROPRESS & SPEARS – EASIER PIPING INSTALLATIONS 52 SEPTEMBER 2016 REDUCING INJURY RISK AND IMPROVING HANDLING RATES In today’s workplace, where the health and safety of employees is paramount, the use of vacuum assisted lifting and handling systems has increasingly become the tool of choice. Along with helping reduce injury risks, vacuum assisted systems can boost productivity by reducing fatigue and increasing handling rates. With heavier loads that usually require two people for the handling task, a vacuum handling system enables the load to be managed by a single person with the same precision. Additional benefits include widening the available workforce and enabling staff to have greater control over their work environment and task sequencing. For food and pharmaceutical operations, the vacuum handling systems are constructed to suit the requirements of the environment. For clean rooms, vacuum systems are constructed with stainless steel components, using a cavity-free design and food grade filtration. The design includes easy access for frequent washing. Systems are also available for dust and gas hazard zones. In cases where the vacuum handling system is used to deliver ingredients, load measurement can be incorporated allowing dispensing of the correct amount of ingredient for the batch. A wide range of lifting attachments are available, including the ability to rotate and tilt containers so ingredients can be poured into the batch while suspended by the vacuum handling system. Should a standard attachment not suit a requirement, an accessory can be designed for the application. For more information, phone Vacuumlift on 0800 63 97 97 or email info@vacuumlift.co.nz. FT154 After more than 47 years of continual development, Spears’ reputation as a global leader in Sch. 80 PVC and CPVC is rapidly growing. Frequently used for water distribution, water filtration, waste water disposal and chemical transfer, the Spears range is known for its quality and innovation in the manufacture of plastic piping systems. Spears’ status has further been enhanced by the completion of the Atlantis Hotel and Waterpark at The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. The resort has more than 1500 rooms, with a 42-acre waterpark and more than 20 dining restaurants. In order to circulate the large volumes of water required, eight massive water pump stations were constructed using Spears Sch. 80 valves and fittings in sizes from 15mm through to 600mm. Spears’ products were chosen because of their ability to produce a high quality and reliable but cost-effective product. Europress, another well-known product amongst New Zealand installers, is offering a number of ease-of-use benefits…no naked flame, no hot works permits and no heavy gas bottles reduces the amount of OH&S paperwork required of installers. Maintenance work is made easy, joins can be pressed wet or dry, and the plant can be back up and running quicker. The press check indicator sleeve allows installers to see at a glance if any joins have not been pressed before the system is charged. These benefits further complement the amazing installation savings of up to 30 per cent that can be achieved due to Europress being faster, cheaper overall and requiring less installation time. Waterworks Wholesale, New Zealand’s importer and distributor, will be showcasing the Spears and Europress Piping Systems at FoodTech PackTech 2016.Visit us on stand 3072 at FoodTech PackTech or contact us now on 0800 387 677.
