WHEN ASSURANCE IS PARAMOUNT Food fraud protection Food fraud affects up to 10% of the global food supply. Protect your brand by scientifically proving the origin of your products. www.foodtechnology.co.nz 39 firstname.lastname@example.org www.oritain.com When a line of Taylor Corp apples suffered accidental ONE PHILOSOPHY… CUSTOMER NEEDS COME FIRST FT124 cross contamination via fruit tainted with the banned chemical diphenylamine (DPA) being repacked in a European packhouse several years ago, Taylor Corp’s managing director Kelvin Taylor saw the urgent need to independently and forensically prove the origin of his products. As a result, these days Oritain holds soil, water and fruit profiles from each of the orchards that supply Taylor Corp, all collated to produce a unique Taylor Corp origin fingerprint. But Taylor was keen to see just how good Oritain was in what it promised, so he tested it out. “We supplied them with three different apple samples, and asked the scientists to identify which of our orchards they came from,” Taylor says. “They got two right but were very concerned because they couldn’t identify the third orchard. That was exactly what we wanted to hear because what we hadn’t told them when we gave them the fruit was that the third sample wasn’t ours at all. It came from Cambridge.” Taylor says Oritain runs a great company which provides Taylor Corp with assurance no one else in the world can offer. “With them we enjoy and promote a unique point of difference…we can play the ‘Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand’ origin authentic card.” VISIT US AT FOODTECH PACKTECH, 11 - 13 OCTOBER 2016, STAND 3044 For more information please visit www.sick.co.nz or call 0800 222 278 (Tollfree).
