machines that we needed at the right price and we couldn’t be happier,” adds Mr Fahey. Cosgroves now has a new 320 tonne CNC brake press and a four metre 13mm CNC guillotine. Its heavy-duty hydraulic plate rolls, and hydraulic sectional rolls are new and additional to original capabilities. A new CNC lathe and mill and a 100 ton press rounds out the company’s well-equipped machine room and "we have expanded upon what we can do for our customers.” He says that now Cosgroves has much better manufacturing capabilities for a wider range of things. “In our sheet metal side of the business we have a new Jorns CNC folder/slitter for our flashings which provides a lot better quality control and greater capabilities for our flashings and all our gutters that we manufacture. We didn’t have that before, it was just a manual machine and that meant there was also a greater potential for manual error. Not now.” Cosgroves’ ability to offer many services will be extended further with the arrival of a new gutter machine and a 200mm ridging machine, due late October. 24 October 2016 The 35 staff continually strive to offer the best in terms of quality and build products that are designed to last. “We have silos that are 50-plus years old, built right the first time and built to last. Using  New Zealand engineers you are only allowed to build things to comply with New Zealand standards and that’s the benefit against products that are imported. “We can turn things around fast which means our customers have greater flexibility combined with the quality that’s required. Also, we are here to back up anything we make which is another benefit against importing products.” Cosgroves is somewhat of an institution in Timaru, and the reputation that has been forged over the decades of doing business the right way is just improved upon by a close knit relationship with its machinery suppliers. “I couldn’t have asked for anything more from Scott Machinery. Now our customers can ask for more, and we can give them more. That’s a win:win in my books,” says Mr Fahey. EN Director Gary Fahey
