Auckland based engineering company Concentric Engineered Solutions discovered a product called Axelent X-Guard when asked to provide a protection solution around a number of machines at a large customer site. “Initially we looked at doing a bespoke solution of our own,” says Conenctric's managing director, Tony Aislabie, “however we found Axelent X-Guard to be a more cost effective option and in conjunction with our abilities in 3D design we have been able to provide successful outcomes using this product.” Axelent X-Guard modular safety distance guarding is manufactured in Sweden and complies with AS/ NZS 4024.1-2014 and its European counterpart ISO 13857-2008. The guarding features include: • A 50 x 30mm mesh aperture that provides a safety distance from a hazard of 200mm. • Mesh panels that can only be removed with a special key meaning operators cannot remove the panels with common tools such as Allen keys or spanners. • A range of hinged or sliding doors. • Yellow powder coated posts and black powder coated mesh and components. • Mesh panels that are available in 100mm increments from 250 to 1500mm wide. • Guarding solutions are available in standard heights of 2000 and 2300mm. Concentric Engineered Solutions can provide 3D models of guarding concepts, incorporating both Axelent X-Guard and bespoke elements. The big advantage of this process is that it can assist in communicating a concept before proceeding to production and installation. The company specialises in mechanical design and drafting, machine automation, installation and automation across a wide range of manufacturing applications. The company has a good working knowledge of AS/NZS 4024.1-2014 and can offer a complete solution.
