E N V I R O N M E N T CORROSION MANAGEMENT IN A TRULY CHALLENGING ECONOMY Corrosion is an economic threat to industry and the wider community, as well as a physical threat to infrastructure and personal safety. In a report released this year by NACE International, it has been estimated that, globally, more than 7% of GDP - billions of dollars - each year is spent on corrosion mitigation and repair. Full Colour CMYK 3D Printer normally $19,950 +GST purchase on indent order basis now only $12,942 +GST pre-order this amazing machine and save over $7000 pay $1000 +GST deposit and on delivery pay the balance of $11,942 +GST expected delivery time 6–12 weeks from date of order placed finance available to approved purchasers This amazing 3D printer works by extruding separate cyan, magenta, yellow, black, and white filaments into a single hot end where they are blended together and deposited from a single nozzle. Imagine how much more organized and efficient your filament stock room can be if you only need to stock 5 colours and from those 5 you can produce ANY color, hue, tint, shade, or tone in the rainbow! e: anthony@ancoprint.co.nz ancoprintltd 30 September 2016 While there are news reports of oil pipeline ruptures, sewer explosions or sink holes appearing after a burst water main, the effects of corrosion usually take many years to appear. Effective management or prevention of this insidious threat is essential to minimise its impact. The changing dynamics of the economy mean that companies offering corrosion management services have to convince their customers of their value. “Asset owners expect a better ROI on the money they spend on maintenance,” says Dean Ferguson, materials engineer with Infracorr Consulting and senior vice president of the Victorian branch of the Australasian Corrosion Association (ACA). Infracorr is a leading engineering consultancy specialising in rehabilitation and durability solutions for concrete and masonry infrastructure. “Budgets for asset maintenance are never large enough to cover requirements. Coatings are seen as passive, so structures are often left to fend for themselves until corrosion damage is severe,” adds Aaron Davey, director of Bastion in New Zealand, and a member of the ACA. “When coupled with the wrong coating, subsequent costs can appear far sooner than otherwise expected.” The Australasian Corrosion Association p: 04 566 1700 m: 027 315 6053 w: www.ancoprint.co.nz EN101 PROTECTIVE CAPS & PLUGS Extensive range in stock, fast delivery • Tapered & threaded • Metric, BSP & JIC • Tube inserts • Silicone & EPDM • Bolt & nut protection H_2370 Available from Hi-Q Electronics Limited engineering@hiq.co.nz 0800 766 709 www.hiqplugsandcaps.co.nz
