KONECRANES’ WASTE-TO-ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES HELP UNLOCK BIOENERGY POTENTIAL TM Conveyor Rollers Superior Performance. AT FLEXCO, WE TAKE YOUR SYSTEM’S PRODUCTIVITY AS SERIOUSLY AS YOU DO. Designed to overcome common issues with belt rollers, heavy-duty CoreTech™ Conveyor Rollers are strong enough to tackle the toughest environments while maintaining superior performance. Made of light weight, high strength, corrosion and abrasion resistant composite materials, CoreTech rollers require less energy, and emit less noise than steel counterparts - plus superior plastic construction means that even advanced wear on the shell won’t damage the belt. HM153 24 August 2016 P O W E R S Y S T E M S MULTIPLE BENEFITS OF NYLON CONVEYOR ROLLERS When an operation is working at full speed the last thing it needs to worry about is the performance and reliability of the conveyor belt rollers. “It is surprising how much of the noise from bulk material handling systems is generated by rollers,” says Mark Colbourn, managing director at Flexco. “Whether it be noise regulations in your local area, or the risk of exposing workers to dangerous elevated noise levels, reducing the noise of the conveyor roller is vital to your operations safety and efficiency.” CoreTech nylon rollers produce approximately 10dB less noise than equivalent steel rollers, reducing the possibility of receiving an expensive noise violation that can cut into both profit and production. They also last significantly longer than steel rollers in most applications. “With ultra-light construction, up to 60% lighter than equivalent steel rollers, CoreTech rollers maintain durability in the toughest environments without sacrificing performance,” Mr Colbourn says. “Lighter weight rollers make for quicker and less-costly installation and reduce the risk of worker injury.” Seal design and effectiveness are both key to the success of the bearing, and therefore the success of the roller. The centrifugal seal of the CoreTech roller is specifically designed to rotate with the roller, generating centrifugal force. “This helps to ‘spin out’ fines, water, and other contaminants, effectively preventing trapped material from damaging the bearing,” Mr Colbourn says. Tough, durable, lightweight, heavy-duty CoreTech nylon rollers will keep your operation up and running productively and safely for longer. A broad range of lifting and materials handling technologies specifically designed for waste-to-energy (WTE) and biomass applications is being introduced to Australasia by Konecranes as the region develops its bioenergy potential. The technologies – including unmanned full automation, remote operation stations, remote monitoring and maintenance reporting products – are focused on applications such as biomass, refuse and ash/slag. Konecranes Australia national industrial equipment manager, Peter Monaghan says the WTE market has considerable growth potential because these technologies allow customers to save money and run their businesses in a more sustainable manner. “Our WTE cranes can be equipped with global technical support connection, remote monitoring and a computer interface capable of semi or fully unmanned automation or a remote for manual handling, as well as a range of features and benefits to maximise production and minimise running costs,” says Mr Monaghan. Konecranes waste handling cranes are designed with smart features, which manage critical crane functions to reduce structural stress, increase efficiency and prolong equipment life. For example, sway control minimises load sway from bridge and trolley motions, reducing collisions between the bucket and the pit walls or hopper, and preventing equipment damage. It increases operator confidence, reduces training time and allows the crane to operate to its full potential. “As an industry leader in cranes and crane maintenance, with over 50 years experience in the waste and biomass handling applications, Konecranes is able to provide complete crane systems for the renewable energy industry,” says Mr Monaghan. “Cranes play a crucial role in waste-to-energy as well as other modern incineration plants where tight environmental management guidelines are applied. A continuous material handling system with maximum safety and efficiency and minimum downtime is vital.” Koncranes has biomass handling, refuse handling, refuse plant and ash (or slag) cranes available in the range.
