SAECOWILSON DELIVERS 50 May 2016 P O W E R S Y S T E M S In business - any business - the ability to select suppliers and service providers that add value to your business is critical to success Often, when companies pitch their wares, they offer all the right talk but when push comes to shove the walk can be a little wonky. That’s not the case with SaecoWilson, a proud, family owned business since 1919 (formerly Wilson Brothers and SaecoPrecison). That sort of heritage isn’t built by luck but forged by commitment to all industries it’s involved in and a desire to help grow alongside and in partnership with its client base. The newly expanded partnership with Gates is the pinnacle example how the company works with world class manufacturers to offer the best products on the market. Evolution through such partnerships is what the company has been built upon, with its customers benefitting from now having access to vastly expanded ranges of industrial synchronous and V belts. Gates is the perfect fit. John Gates developed the V belt in 1917 and from that early ingenious innovation, the company’s timing and V belt ranges have become industry DNA; integral and known for uncompromising quality. With customer satisfaction and solutions at the forefront of its mantra too, Gates’ fits perfectly into the SaecoWilson family. Gates offers a vast product selection in keeping with the ethos of powering progress through quality, range and reliability... and that works perfectly for SaecoWilson. The company specialises in the distribution of bearings, power transmission and engineering supplies to the New Zealand market utilising a branch network of 21 sites. Despite the almost 100 year period since its inception, the goal remains the same: fit-forpurpose engineering solutions. Simply put, you do business with SaecoWilson then you have a nationwide network delivering solutions at your fingertips. The system, simple as it may be, works: provide product ranges to give a national footprint of quality bearings, power transmission products, tools and engineering supplies. “We are very excited about our belt range extension” says power transmission divisional manager Nigel Larkin. “In partnership with Gates, we now have a full range of synchronous and Poly V-belt sleeves ex stock and are able to cut to the right width either from our Mangere or Christchurch distribution centres improving our service capability significantly. Our Vee belt stock has also been expanded to give excellent stock holdings throughout ourbranch network.” It is not just about having the right belt in the right place according to Mr Larkin, SaecoWilson and Gates work with customers on site to provide solutions for any new drive or belt drive problems that they may be experiencing. Improper drive maintenance, installation and poor drive designs equate to over 80 percent of premature belt failures, so utilising Gates’ alignment and tensioning equipment in conjunction with Gates’ Design Flex Pro belt design software, belt life can be extended considerably. SaecoWilson also places huge emphasis on its staff, with an internal college established three years ago that brings 30 people to its head office - every two months - to expand product knowledge and provide personal growth Training is a focus, and the company invests significantly both in-house and via global supply partners including overseas supplier/factory training to technical support staff. People are the backbone of this company. In every one of its sites there is at least one staff member that has at least 10-years experience and normally two graduates of the SaecoWilson Bearing and Power Transmission College. “That sort of support backs up the already very reliable Gates range. With qualified engineers on hand to answer questions and tackle problems, our investment pays off in the sound knowledge that the end result is a solution from our people.” says Mr Larkin. And all that produces staff who know what they are talking about, absolutely versed in the world leading brands they champion, including: Gates, NSK, INA FAG, NTN, Timken,THK, Roth-Erde, Renold, Sugiyama (SY), Martin, Bonfiglioli, CRC, Loctite, Rocol, Kluber and Koken. PARTNERSHIPS IN PRODUCTIVITY “That sort of support backs up the already very reliable Gates range. With qualified engineers on hand to answer questions and tackle problems, our investment pays off in the sound knowledge that the end result is a solution from our people.”
