It keeps it at a constant temperature so there’s no thermal growth.” says Mr Thumath. “If you want a quality CNC machining centre then Quaser is amazingly accurate and stable, ranging from 3-axis to multi pallet 5-axis cells. “There will be one on display at EMEX. It is a must see, you’ll fall in love,” he says. Thermal compensation means if there is any heat growth the machine automatically compensates so it can be operated for hours on end and it stays at a steady temperature. “There’s also a laser tool measurement with compensation (just in case) so it measures each tool before it puts it in and tells the machine exactly where that tool is.” These features are just a taste of what the Taiwan-made machine has to offer according to Doug White of Xact Tooling, based in Auckland. Mr White wasn’t even in the market for a machine, but when he saw the quality and, even better, saw the factory and its quality controls and innovation he just couldn’t help himself: “You’d better quote me a Quaser, Dave”. So CNC Direct did exactly that, and it’s running like a dream. “This machine is amazing, look at its footprint, nothing sticks out. It’s compact but still performs at the highest level. Everything has been thought about in its design,” says Mr White. The pair had gone to a trade show in Taiwan, where Mr White was “accosted” by salesperson after salesperson, trying to peddle their wares. “I played along. They really turn it on to sell, but I just wasn’t in the market for another machine,” adds Mr White. Then the pair took a trip to the Quaser factory in the Dajia District, Taichung City, and that ‘no need for another’ machine turned into a ‘must have’. It was installed late last year. “The tour of the factory was an absolute clincher. Phenomenal is the only way to describe it. Quaser just does everything right from quality control down to systems, performance, support. So I had to have one,” says Mr White.
