S T O C K TA K E BOC’S TAURUS TAKES WELDING BY THE HORNS HI-Q SOLUTION Hi-Q Components has been importing and distributing plastic and electronic components for over 30 years and is now a well-established supplier to manufacturers and general industry. It’s a is a one-stop shop for plastic components including, fixings, fastenings, hardware, knobs, handles, toggle clamps, small enclosures, protective caps, plugs and hi-temperature masking products. Hi-Q also has an extensive stock of electronic components, which includes AC and DC cooling fans, terminal blocks, connectors, switches, mains filters, crystals, buzzers and indicators. Although most components are imported, it manufactures some items  in New Zealand such as the range of Scaffold protection caps and plugs. If a customer requirement cannot be sourced within its stock range or from many overseas manufacturers Hi-Q can look at the options of tooling and manufacturing these locally. Hi-Q welcomes customers and design engineers to discuss projects with experienced staff to find the right solution for design projects and receive free samples for prototyping. Contact Hi-Q for free product samples and catalogues. Maxon’s new encoder brings the additional advantage of increased resolution. The Mile encoder in the second illustration is inductive based using a high frequency alternating field and a structured copper disc to derive angle dependent information. This technology is very robust against magnetic and electrical fields and also contamination from harsh operating environments. Beautifully, the electronics are all placed inside the motor between the rotor and the stator of the outrunner style brushless flat motors, further enhancing the motors form factor and making it suitable for space critical motor applications in robotics fields. Resolutions are available up to 25,600qc. www.maxonmotor.com.au BOC has expanded its EWM welding product line with the launch of the Taurus range featuring four welding machines suitable for light engineering projects right through to heavy industrial tasks.   As the exclusive supplier of EWM products in New Zealand, BOC brings the latest in German welding technology to New Zealand with the Taurus range offering patented upgrades to increase welding efficiencies for stainless steel, carbon steel, low alloy steel and aluminium alloy fabrication. With three basic models and one advanced model, all with a modular design instead of integrated fixed system, allowing for easy customisation of the welding packages during their lifecycle. The modular design of the Taurus welding range offers excellent flexibility with the power source, wire feeder and trolley all separate components, making it easier to upgrade or conduct maintenance checks. They are also smaller, lighter and more efficient than previous models. www.boc.co.nz
